Connecting with Our Food

I’m lucky in that I live in San Diego. People come here from all over the world to enjoy our sunshine and ocean. I can always find something entertaining to do, by myself or with my son. Over Christmas break, we paid a visit to Suzy’s Farm with friends. It’s 15 minutes from my house, but in many ways, a world away.

There’s an incredible tour that, for $10 a person (plus $10 a bag if you want to collect garden goodies), you can be educated on all the edibles that Suzy’s Farm grows. The best part? You can stuff all you can fit in your bag and nosh on them for days!

My son is 10 and not particularly a fan of vegetables, and yet, he was eager to try new things at the farm. He and his friends had fun pulling up radishes and beets. I was surprised at how many plants have tasty tops, like said radishes and beets!
